Why Aspen Tree?
As an Aspen’s branches no longer receive light, they lose them in order to continue to survive. They adapt and adjust in order to continue reaching for the light that surrounds them. A stand of aspen trees are connected under the soil by their roots creating the largest single organism on Earth. What appears to be single individual trees is really one large system constantly growing, changing, and adapting. There is also a very meditative quality listening to the song of the aspen leaves as they rustle in the wind. We are constantly changing and adjusting ourselves in order to reach the light which sometimes seems out of reach. Surrounding us are opportunities for support and caring. As a people, we are not meant to be alone, but to seek out that which will help make us stronger.
